Text Message to the Universe
I just completed week one of a four-week program called the Morning Whip with the amazing and talented Erika Lyremark at the helm. Seriously, people, this is good stuff. Mega-motivating, and Erika has a loving, yet no-holds-barred way of coaxing accountability out of even the most reluctant business babe.
One of the assignments she gave us was to write a Text Message to the Universe asking the universe for help getting un-stuck in whatever area(s) of business we need a little extra oomph and juju. She also challenged us to post our message on our websites or blogs.
So with a bit of trepidation, I share with you my Text Message to the Universe (italics are Erika’s prompts):
Text Message to the Universe
Dear Universe,
Thank you for your kindness and generosity over the years! I really appreciate it. I have a very special need that I need your help with. I know you’re very well connected and magical, and I could really use a hand with this. So here goes…
Please help me with the following:
I want to change my entire business model to one that allows me more freedom, less one-to-one/hourly work, and where I can be of greater service to more people doing the things I love. And while I don’t know exactly what that looks like right now, I know I will need a significant income, as well, to effect change (philanthropy is key to my values).
This is important because:
When I am not working to my fullest potential, I am not fulfilled, and I know I have greater gifts to share with a wider audience. I do good work, but not always great work, and I don’t always enjoy what I do. It’s important that I love what I do, because when I am in this space, I create, I radiate, and people get the best of me.
I know that when I do my chores you can do your chores! Therefore, I will commit to doing the following to assist you:
I am not afraid of hard work, but I do believe in working smarter, not necessarily harder. I will show up, be present, and listen to your wise counsel. I will make mistakes. I will trust the process. I’ll make you proud.

I haven’t had a whipping in a while. My whipping would say, eat, sleep, play. My favorite quote is, “I use to be driven. Then I pulled over.” Trouble is, I now see that “driven” is dancing with “passion” is dancing with so many blasted ideas running through my head and my heart I can hardly contain them all. I have to pull over again and again and again.
But here’s what’s happening. The universe is talking to me. This week I have already received three calls from women wanting my help growing their businesses. It’s only Tuesday. It looks like I will have a container for some of those ideas. It never occurred to me that I didn’t have to orchestrate every single one. I’m turning a few over.
Now, I just need to leverage my time so that I, too, can shape my ever-evolving business model into one that leaves me freedom to write and muse and speak.
