Why Your Book Needs an Ally

May

You want to write a book. You have a book in you and it desperately needs to come out.

You’ve thought about this for a long time. You have ideas, great ideas. Maybe your book idea is an autobiography, a how-to, a tell-all, or some other genre that needs to see the light of day.

You want to write it, you know you must, but…it’s freaking scary! Every time you sit down, you sit down and stare. At the screen. At the blank page. At the cracked plaster on the wall.

And then…

The dishes call out to you.

Your dog needs therapeutic massage.

You decide to recreate the Sistine Chapel’s painted dome on the ceiling in your dining room.

You find a million things to do instead of writing!

This is why your book needs an ally. Your book needs an ally because, most likely, you are not your book’s best friend. Oh, your book needs you, yessiree, but it’s sort of a love/hate relationship between you two. And it doesn’t have to be this way!

The best way to bring your book idea to fruition, to get it written and out into the world where your people are waiting to read it, is to get help in the form of a coach (even better, a pair of coaches) and a community of like-minded writers who are dealing with the same challenges (and victories) that you are.

Enter The Merry Inkstersthe online community for nonfiction writers who want to get their book into the world and the hands of eager readers. The Merry Inksters is a virtual gathering spot and writing room for writers who are ready to bring their projects from concept to reality.

Unlike other peer-led groups, The Merry Inksters offers you accountability and support from Amy Scott, a professional editor, and me, a professional writer. You get our support, as well as the community’s support—and a host of other perks and benefits. Oh, and did I mention fun? Yes, we are going to have fun doing this!

For the month of June 2012, our kick-off month for The Merry Inksters, we are offering membership for free! Then, each month afterward, the dues are only $30. You can end your membership at any time.
