You Are Not Broken

You Are Not Broken

You are not broken.

Your flaws are not fatal.

Your eccentricities and sensitivities don’t make you a monster; they mark you as human. And what, if not that, are you meant to be? You are here to be the highest expression of yourself. You are a thread in the weave of humanity.

You have all you need to know. You don’t need any more workshops, or trainings, or external degrees. You are eminently qualified to be you.

The things that scare you are the things you need to explore. Embrace your dark side.

Sit with your sadness. Don’t judge it; just be with it. Feel it. Let it overflow like the tears you are trying to suppress, and then watch it retreat back to the well.

You are just like the tide. You are made of the same briny stuff. The ebb and flow and all that.

The less you run from it, or try to tame it, the more you will blossom. You are a late bloomer. An early riser.

A night owl.

You are misunderstood. So what.

You are neither easy to contain nor define.

So let go. Don’t hold the reins so tight. In fact, drop the reins. See where the winds will take you. You don’t control any of this, anyway. No, you don’t.

You are fine. You are not broken.

Maybe you need an infusion of deep joy and naked laughter, but you are definitely not broken.

If you forget that you are not broken, return to this place.

I’ll be here to remind you.

ahhhhhhhhh… YES! Thank you so much for this piece, Shanna! yes! yes! to breaking through into your dark side… which paradoxically is the LIGHT, the Jewel in the heart of the Darkness. Thank you for the reminder. And I LOVE the image! and the yet seemingly barren tree, with its powerful lifeforce hidden in its roots… about to give birth in its FULL FORCE of Spring! Such a gift to receive you here! xo

“Maybe you need an infusion of deep joy and naked laughter, but you are definitely not broken.” Dood. You just shared the cure for what ails so many of us. Brilliant! Thank you for the reminder that I’m good just as I am. :) xoxo

Very beautiful Shanna. Ah, how long I thought I was “broken” but I am grateful I got over that. An infusion of deep joy and naked laughter? Oh yes!

Now, if only you could have told me this twenty years ago. It would have saved me a lot of heartache. I spent so much time focused on what I thought was wrong with me not realizing that what I thought was most wrong is what made me unique. Thanks for the reminding me.

I love you for this, Shanna. Perfectly describes what I feel inside. Sometimes I have to chant “I am whole” to myself over and over so I don’t feel broken, LOL. Thank you for these beautiful words. Mwah!
