I was the executive director of Rolling Readers and created a position specifically to hire Shanna. I knew that she was more than worth her weight in gold. She carried the organization through some very tough times by writing extremely compelling grant proposals and creatively and expertly managing the organization's presence in the community. I gave her the raise that had been awarded to me as part of my performance review because I recognized the tremendous gift that she gave to the organization and to the people we served.
